There are many benefits to joining the Association. Firstly, it gives you a stronger voice. We are all aware of the lone voice shouting to be heard! How much easier to have the same message spoken by a larger group of like minded people.
> How as an individual voice would you lobby Government and Insurers and to what effect?
> Think strength in numbers, one united voice, consider the advantages
> Think policing your product and stop others utilising all your hard work
Through changes in the Association's committee, we are now a far more proactive Association. To date the FPA and its members have been involved in the production of the British Standards Institution's PAS-1188 series of documents. The FPA is represented on the All Party Group on Flood Protection at the House of Commons, is on the DEFRA Strategy Committee involved with the Making Space for Water consultation and has contributed to the Water Sector Export Strategy, published in June 2004 by the Department of Trade and Industry. FPA members all subscribe to the FPA code of practice, disciplinary and complaints procedures.
The more seriousproactive members we have, the larger theour voice we have, the more help we can be to organisations - such as the Association of British Insurers, the Environment Agency, DEFRA, CIRIA, ODPM and others.
From a marketing perspective, the benefits of joining are many, below are just some of the advantages:
> Raising level of awareness of your own company through association with FPA
> PR opportunities as a result of FPA activity
> Opportunity for reduced advertising rates - in conjunction with FPA advertising
> Your company literature is included on FPA stand at all relevan exhibitions / flood fairs
> Your company mentioned in Industry Seminars, CPD's, Flood Fairs etc
